Story

The idea behind the work

The work speaks of becoming as an active process. We are not given a final form; through our choices and actions we take part in what we become.

The meaning in the painting

The ancient face seems to emerge gradually from a cracked material. Fragments remain visible around it, like traces of the experiences that shape us; golden lines follow the outline of the transformation. The image ties the idea of the self to an active process: identity is built through choices, effort and action.

Craft

A finished work

Materials, frame and finish complete the identity of the work.
